Application cases of coating technology in ball valves

Enhanced durability: For high temperature and high pressure environments, the use of ceramic coating technology can effectively enhance the durability of ball valves. In a petroleum refining project, after a ceramic-coated ball valve was continuously operated for 12 months under a high temperature of 500°C and a high pressure of 10MPa, the valve performance did not decline significantly, effectively reducing the frequency and cost of maintenance and replacement.
Improve sealing: In the pipeline system of a chemical plant, ball valves with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating technology are used. After practical application verification, PTFE coating can not only reduce friction resistance during valve operation, but also effectively improve sealing performance and reduce leakage. Compared with the ball valve without coating, the leakage rate is reduced by 85%.
Anti-corrosion: In seaside wind power projects, super duplex stainless steel coated ball valves with excellent anti-corrosion properties are used. After two years of field operation testing, the coated ball valve showed good corrosion resistance in a strong salt spray corrosive environment, with no obvious change in appearance and no corrosion in internal parts. Compared with ordinary stainless steel ball valves, its service life is expected to be extended by more than 50%.

Reduce the friction coefficient: In a certain water treatment plant, a coating technology with self-lubricating function - diamond-like coating (DLC) is used. Practical applications have shown that DLC coating can reduce the friction coefficient of ball valves to less than 0.1, greatly reducing the resistance when the valve opens and closes. In samples of ball valves using ceramic coatings, after long-term operation in high-temperature and high-pressure environments, the valve performance retention rate reached an average of more than 90%. The performance retention rate of ball valve samples without coating under the same conditions is only 60%.
By comparing ball valve samples using PTFE coating and uncoated ball valves, it was found that the improvement rate in sealing performance of the former was 85%, while that of the latter was only 50%. This data fully proves the significant effect of PTFE coating in improving the sealing performance of ball valves.
Among samples of super duplex stainless steel coated ball valves operating in highly corrosive environments, the valve integrity rate after 2 years of field testing is as high as 98%. The integrity rate of ordinary stainless steel ball valve samples operating in the same environment is only 70%. This further validates the superior performance of super duplex stainless steel coatings in terms of corrosion protection, check valve factory.
Diamond-like coating (DLC) has a significant effect in reducing the friction coefficient and can reduce the friction coefficient of the ball valve to less than 0.1. Compared with uncoated ball valves (friction coefficient is usually in the range of 0.3-0.5), DLC coating greatly improves the operating efficiency and service life of the valve.
