Valve Body Types of Globe Valves

Generally, valve body of globe valves can be divided into T-type, angle type, and Y-type.

1.T-type globe valves

This type is the most frequently used one, but the flow resistance generated by the tortuous flow path of this type of valve body is the highest among the above types. The T-shaped valve body has characteristics of low flow and high pressure drop. It is effective in managing pressure drop across the valve, ensuring that the fluid maintains the desired pressure within the system.

They can be used for rapid throttling. It can also be used in situations where throttling is only required without considering pressure drop.

2.Angle type globe valves

Compared with T-shaped valve body, angle type has the advantage that the flow resistance is greatly reduced. Additionally, it provides flexibility in installation, allowing for easy connection to pipes without the need for additional elbows or bends, which allows for space-saving installation.

3.Y-type globe valves

Y-shaped body is designed to minimize the flow resistance of the valve. When the valve is open or closed, it has a small flow resistance and a durable sealing surface. This type has the lowest flow resistance among these three types, and can be slightly opened for a long time without severe erosion. Y-type globe valves are well-suited for throttling applications, making them ideal for situations where precise control of flow rates is required.
